Social suicide

Bullying is a very dangerous habit that lead bullied people to suicide , but , now the technology has given birth to the cyber bullying using internet and social networks , the victims are teenagers , and gamers , etc .. this causes what i called a social suicide , this short movie (march,2013)  is an example , it may seems funny or ridiculous , but it’s serious , it serious when you know that people , and by saying people i mean, relatives , friends or school mates , are dying , and killing themselves because of being bullied , or miss respected on the social network , which became their whole life , that fake life , in which they feel their existence , they made that life because their are different somehow and as Vincent O’Sullivan, said in his book The Next Room“If you are different from the rest of the flock, they bite you” ” when i made this movie , i wanted to tell my friends , my relatives my mates and everyone who watch this short movie that they shouldn’t take the Internet too seriously. and please respect that there’s difference, life goes on , and to the people who think that it’s funny to make fun of other people by hacking to their private world or bullying them.. it’s not ! it’s not funny and it never been funny : Bullying is killing our kids. Being different is killing our kids and the kids who are bullying are dying inside. We have to save our kids whether they are bullied or they are bullying. They are all in pain.

So Again i say please respect that there’s difference , and that difference should reunite us not separate us ,neither taking peoples lives . I think every person has their own identity and beauty. Everyone being different is what is really beautiful. If we were all the same, it would be boring.

“If you hate difference, you’ll be bored to death.”

  1. This is a powerfully poignant portrait of an isolated youth who has been bullied and feels he has no option but to opt out. It’s the tragic story of many young people who fall victim to others’ seemingly “harmless” jokes. The acting, direction and filming works harmoniously to present the desired effect with emotional sensitivity and clarity. Well done, Mehdy, and all the best to your brilliant filmmaking future! Jim

  2. Hey, I really love the message behind this video and it was really well constructed as a short film. I’m a friend of Jim Barnes and I’m a writer of depression and suicide myself and it’s really great to see some strong work by other young people. I encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing because as far as I’m concerned, suicide and depression don’t get enough attention and they need to be spoken about. Keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing what you have in store for the future!

    1. Hey, I’m glad that you like the idea and the short movie itself, and I agree with you that suicide and depression don’t get enough attention and they need to be spoken about…
This is just a first step in a very long path, I hope the next steps will have a similar strong message that will speak about the unspoken problems.
